How to get around a cylinder cap rule of 4 pots, when you need more than those pesky two strokes out in the GP paddock? 
Make a 4 cylinder V8. 
They say if there were no noise limits, and thus a different exhaust system was to be used, it would have made a ton more horses, and wouldn't have been so over stressed in 500cc form. 
Alas. It gave us one of the most amazing street machines ever concocted by the mighty Honda firm.
The oval pistoned, 32 valved, no stone unturned NR750.
